Vantiva and CommScope announced today that a single DOCSIS 4.0 modem has achieved a downstream speed of 13 Gbps, establishing a new benchmark for home broadband performance. The test was conducted with Vantiva’s latest DOCSIS 4.0 CPE, which was paired with CommScope’s access‑network components to deliver the record speed. The modem leveraged seven downstream OFDM channels and utilized 384 MHz of additional spectrum, enabling operation in cable plants that support up to 1.8 GHz of bandwidth. This technical configuration exceeds the minimum DOCSIS 4.0 requirement of five downstream channels and demonstrates the capability to harness the full spectrum available in modern cable networks. By enabling such high downstream rates, the partnership allows service providers to offer premium service tiers and extract greater value from existing DOCSIS 4.0 deployments. The achievement positions CommScope as a leader in delivering advanced access‑network solutions and strengthens its competitive advantage in the broadband market.
