Christie's International Real Estate announced on January 27, 2025, its expansion into the Mexican Caribbean and Yucatan Peninsula through a new agreement with Mexico Real Estate Group. The local firm will rebrand as Christie's International Real Estate Mexico Luxury Properties, serving the states of Quintana Roo and Yucatan, including popular destinations like Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Puerto Aventuras, and Tulum. The firm, founded in 2005 by Jason Waller, comprises 16 multilingual agents and plans to open a new office in Merida later this year. Luxury properties in the region range from under $1 million to over $10 million, attracting a significant number of international buyers, primarily from the United States and Canada. Major infrastructure projects, such as Tulum's new Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport and the Maya Train, are expected to have a significant positive long-term effect on the luxury real estate market. This expansion is part of Christie's International Real Estate's broader growth in the Caribbean, now serving over 18 destinations in the region.
