On December 10, 2024, The Campbell's Company announced a three-year regenerative agriculture pilot program in partnership with Ahold Delhaize USA, focusing on potato farming. This initiative aims to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with potato cultivation.
The pilot will support three potato farms across North Carolina, New York, and Michigan, covering 1,000 acres, which corresponds to the annual potato acreage needed for Campbell's products sold in Ahold Delhaize USA stores. The program will implement regenerative farming techniques such as cover cropping, compost application, and nutrient management.
Potatoes harvested from this project will be used in Campbell's products, including Kettle Brand® chips, Cape Cod® chips, and Campbell’s® soups. This collaboration underscores Campbell's commitment to sustainable agriculture and supply chain optimization, building on its existing sustainable agriculture program for potato suppliers since 2023.
