Corebridge Financial announced several updates to its Board of Directors on December 10, 2024. Peter Zaffino, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American International Group (AIG), stepped down as Chairman of the Corebridge Financial Board. Alan Colberg, who previously served as Lead Independent Director, was elected to succeed Mr. Zaffino as the new Chair of the Board of Directors.
The board changes also included the departure of Jon Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone Inc., who was replaced by Gilles Dellaert, Global Head of Blackstone Credit and Insurance. Additionally, Minoru Kimura, Managing Executive Officer and Head of Global Business at Nippon Life Insurance Company, was elected to the Board following Nippon Life's acquisition of a 21.6% equity interest in Corebridge Financial from AIG, which closed on December 9, 2024.
These appointments and departures reflect a shift in Corebridge's governance structure, aligning with AIG's reduced ownership and the strengthening of relationships with strategic partners like Blackstone and Nippon Life. The Board of Directors now consists of 11 members, bringing diverse expertise and perspectives to the company's leadership.
