CoreWeave has entered into a $1.17 billion commercial partnership with VAST Data, an AI operating‑system provider, to embed VAST’s AI OS across its data centers. The agreement is expected to span three to five years and will give CoreWeave customers instant access to VAST’s massive, high‑performance data layer, improving training and inference workloads for AI models.
The partnership builds on a pre‑existing collaboration that began in September 2023. Under the new deal, CoreWeave will deploy VAST’s AI OS immediately, with a phased rollout that will extend to all of its data centers over the next 12 to 18 months. The integration will enhance CoreWeave’s data foundation, allowing customers to scale GPU‑accelerated workloads more efficiently and at lower cost than competing cloud providers.
CoreWeave’s Q2 FY25 revenue reached $1.21 billion, a 207% year‑over‑year increase, but the company posted a net loss of $290.5 million as it invests heavily in new data‑center capacity. VAST Data, backed by Nvidia, reported an annual recurring revenue of $200 million by January 2025 and is free‑cash‑flow positive, positioning it as a strong partner for CoreWeave’s growth strategy.
The deal differentiates CoreWeave from hyperscalers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud by offering a specialized GPU‑accelerated platform that combines high‑performance compute with a purpose‑built data layer. The partnership signals continued demand for AI infrastructure that can handle extreme data processing needs, and it strengthens CoreWeave’s ability to compete for large contracts with AI leaders like OpenAI and Meta.
"At VAST, we are building the data foundation for the most ambitious AI initiatives in the world," said Renen Hallak, Founder and CEO of VAST Data. "Our deep integration with CoreWeave is the result of a long‑term commitment to working side by side at both the business and technical level." Brian Venturo, co‑founder and Chief Strategy Officer of CoreWeave, added, "The VAST AI Operating System underpins key aspects of how we design and deliver our AI cloud. This partnership enables us to deliver AI infrastructure that is the most performant, scalable, and cost‑efficient in the market."
The partnership aligns with CoreWeave’s aggressive expansion plan, which includes a $20 billion–$23 billion investment in 2025 and a target of over 900 MW of active power by year‑end. By deepening its data layer with VAST, CoreWeave can accelerate the deployment of new GPU clusters, capture a larger share of the growing AI market, and reinforce its positioning as a comprehensive AI cloud platform.
