CSX Corporation announced on April 30, 2025, the ratification of new five-year collective bargaining agreements with the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Forgers & Helpers (IBB). These ratifications follow earlier tentative agreements.
These agreements cover 16 different work groups, contributing to a total of 13 labor unions with ratified agreements, accounting for 54% of CSX's unionized workforce. The terms of these agreements provide equivalent packages of improved wages, health care, and paid time off benefits.
CEO Joe Hinrichs emphasized that these ratifications reflect the trust built with union leadership and a shared commitment to employees. CSX continues to work with the two remaining national rail unions, representing Trainmen/Conductors and Locomotive Engineers, to reach similar agreements.
