Corteva, Inc., along with Chemours and DuPont, announced an agreement with the state of New Jersey to settle various litigation matters, including claims related to PFAS chemicals. The three companies will collectively pay $875 million to resolve PFAS contamination claims tied to four industrial sites. This settlement aims to comprehensively resolve environmental liabilities. Corteva's share of this settlement resulted in a $72 million pre-tax loss recorded in the second quarter of 2025. The total payment of $875 million will be disbursed over a period of 25 years. This agreement addresses long-running environmental claims and provides a resolution to ongoing legal uncertainties. While the settlement involves a significant financial outlay and a quarterly loss for Corteva, it removes a substantial legal overhang related to legacy PFAS liabilities. This resolution allows the company to move forward with greater clarity regarding its environmental obligations.
