Commvault Systems, Inc. has been named a launch partner for Amazon Web Services’ European Sovereign Cloud, a dedicated EU‑located cloud environment that will go live in Brandenburg, Germany, by the end of 2025.

The sovereign cloud will operate independently of AWS’s global infrastructure, featuring strong technical controls and legal protections, and will be managed by EU‑resident AWS employees. AWS has invested €7.8 billion in the project, underscoring its commitment to meeting European data‑sovereignty requirements such as GDPR, DORA, and NIS2.

Commvault’s unified cyber‑resilience platform will be offered as a turnkey SaaS solution on the sovereign cloud. The platform includes AI‑enabled discovery, classification, and protection policy recommendations, air‑gapped backups, integrated threat detection and response, and cleanroom recovery orchestration, all designed to help customers meet stringent regulatory mandates while defending against cyber threats.

Strategically, the partnership expands Commvault’s footprint in a highly regulated market and aligns with its broader SaaS ARR growth strategy. By providing a new channel for its data‑protection and recovery solutions, Commvault can capture recurring revenue from European enterprises that require data‑sovereignty compliance, thereby strengthening its competitive position against Veeam, Rubrik, and NetApp.

Financially, Commvault reported Q2 FY2025 revenue of $276.19 million and Q3 FY2025 revenue of $262.6 million, with subscription revenue up 39% year‑over‑year and ARR up 29% year‑over‑year. Management guided Q3 FY2025 revenue to $260–$264 million and subscription revenue to $160–$164 million, while full‑year 2025 revenue guidance was raised to $980–$985 million. The company’s CFO, Jen DiRico, will depart at the end of December 2025, with the CEO temporarily overseeing the finance function.

Investors welcomed the partnership, reflecting confidence in Commvault’s expansion into regulated markets and the potential for new recurring revenue streams.

Darren Thomson, Field CTO – Security, EMEAI, noted that “customers across Europe are under immense pressure to meet sovereignty requirements while defending against escalating cyber threats,” highlighting the relevance of Commvault’s offering on the sovereign cloud.

The partnership positions Commvault to capture a growing segment of the EU data‑safety market, potentially boosting recurring revenue and reinforcing its competitive standing in high‑growth, high‑margin cloud services.
