Curtiss-Wright Corporation announced on October 16, 2024, that its partner, X-energy Reactor Company, LLC, secured a collaboration with Amazon. This partnership aims to generate and deliver over 5 gigawatts of new power projects across the U.S. by 2039, utilizing X-energy’s Xe-100 advanced Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
Under a preferred strategic supplier agreement signed in September 2022, Curtiss-Wright is responsible for designing and developing three critical systems for the Xe-100 reactor. These systems include the Helium Circulator System, Fuel Handling System, and the Reactivity Control and Safe Shutdown System.
The collaboration with Amazon will support future carbon-free projects, including energy-intensive data centers. This development positions Curtiss-Wright to support X-energy's efforts to advance its next-generation reactor design and expand its customer applications in the growing SMR market.
