CoreCivic is making significant progress in preparing its Midwest Regional Reception Center (MRRC) in Leavenworth, Kansas, for activation to meet U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) needs. As of April 21, 1,000 individuals have applied for approximately 300 new jobs at the facility, offering a starting salary of $28.25 per hour with competitive benefits.
Over the past five months, CoreCivic has invested approximately $400,000 with local businesses and contractors in Leavenworth to support the MRRC. This spending contributes to the local economy and demonstrates the company's commitment to community engagement.
In addition to creating jobs and economic opportunities, CoreCivic has committed to paying the city of Leavenworth a one-time impact fee of $1,000,000, an annual impact fee of $250,000, and an additional $150,000 annual impact fee to the police department. These payments are in addition to the over $1,000,000 in annual property taxes CoreCivic already pays.
