Community Health Systems, Inc. announced a definitive agreement with Labcorp for Labcorp to acquire select assets and assume certain leases of CHS's ambulatory outreach laboratory services. The transaction, valued at $195 million in cash, covers operations in 13 states.
Under the agreement, Labcorp will take over certain patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy locations. Community Health Systems' health systems will continue to operate their inpatient and emergency department laboratories, as well as provide laboratory services for hospital-based needs.
This strategic divestiture allows Community Health Systems to focus on its core services while ensuring broader access to comprehensive testing and laboratory services for its patients and providers through Labcorp's network. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.
