Digi International announced a new zero‑touch eSIM accessory that plugs into its EX, IX, and TX routers. The accessory is SGP.32‑compatible and uses a pre‑loaded bootstrap profile to deliver instant, out‑of‑box connectivity. It supports up to eight carrier profiles and allows remote carrier switching through Digi Remote Manager, enabling customers to manage multi‑carrier connections from a single pane of glass.

The eSIM is built to GSMA 3.2 standards and is embedded in rugged 2‑frame, 3‑in‑1 punch‑out cards that fit into Digi’s routers. Zero‑touch provisioning eliminates manual configuration, reducing deployment time and operational costs for enterprises that require global, resilient connectivity.

Strategically, the launch expands Digi’s hardware‑software stack and reinforces its mission‑critical reliability moat. By integrating the eSIM with its remote‑management platform, Digi strengthens its recurring‑revenue pipeline and supports its broader goal of accelerating distributed networking and edge visibility.

Industry context underscores the product’s relevance: Juniper Research projects 4.9 billion cellular connections using eSIMs by 2030, up from 1.2 billion in 2025, and a GSMA study finds 81% of enterprises view eSIM as essential. The accessory targets fleets, retail, and critical‑infrastructure deployments, simplifying lifecycle management and cutting deployment costs.

Management emphasized the value of reliability and ease of use. Landon Reese, Vice President of Product Management, said, “Reliable, easy‑to‑manage connectivity continually rises to the top as a critical need for our cellular customers. Using the pre‑loaded bootstrap profile for instant out‑of‑box connectivity, the Digi eSIM accessory supports simplified carrier‑agnostic connectivity management and provides a full feature set that delivers on the promise of eSIM.”

Pricing and availability details were not disclosed in the announcement.
