Digital Realty announced a partnership with Summit Ridge Energy to purchase 5.1 megawatts (MW) of solar energy, advancing its sustainability objectives and aiming for energy cost savings. This agreement includes the purchase of renewable energy credits from three Summit Ridge-owned and operated commercial solar projects in Illinois.
These solar projects are expected to be energized and interconnected with Commonwealth Edison by late 2025 to early 2026. The purchased solar energy will offset a portion of the energy consumption for Digital Realty’s Northern Illinois-based data centers, contributing to its global carbon reduction goals.
This initiative not only supports Digital Realty's efforts to integrate more renewable energy into its operations but also contributes to enhancing grid resilience across Illinois.
