Dow Inc. announced on November 14, 2024, the launch of a new portfolio of low-carbon material solutions designed to support the footwear industry's sustainability journey. These innovative materials aim to enable the development of more sustainable products while maintaining high-performance results. The portfolio includes bio-circular materials, reversible cross-linking resins, post-consumer recycled resins, and polyolefin elastomers for artificial leather.

A key offering in this new portfolio is REVOLOOP™ resins, which are post-consumer recycled polyethylene resins. Dow has already collaborated with Porto Indonesia Sejahtera, an Indonesian consumer brand, to incorporate these resins into their premium sandal range and flip-flops. This initiative captures the value of plastic waste and contributes to a reduced carbon footprint by decreasing the reliance on virgin plastics.

The bio-circular materials, such as ELVAX™ EVA REN and INFUSE™ OBC REN, are produced using alternative feedstocks derived from waste residues or by-products that do not compete with food or feed production. These resins are International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC Plus) certified under a mass balance approach, supporting Dow's target to commercialize 3 million metric tons of circular and renewable solutions annually by 2030.
