The DaVita Giving Foundation announced an investment in the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)'s PEERS program. This program is designed to provide social and emotional support for patients, care partners, and living donors by connecting them with mentors who have similar experiences.

Prioritizing mental health in chronic disease care is essential, as studies indicate social connection can reduce the risk of chronic disease and improve mental and physical health. Over 356 individuals currently participate as mentors and mentees in the program, with 81% managing a chronic illness like kidney failure.

Dr. Jeff Giullian, chief medical officer for DaVita, emphasized that connecting with peers offers comfort and understanding that complements the support from care teams. This initiative underscores DaVita's commitment to whole-person care and community partnerships.
