On January 8, 2025, Meta announced a new test initiative that will allow buyers to browse listings from eBay directly on Facebook Marketplace. This rollout will begin in Germany, France, and the United States, with transactions to be completed on eBay's platform.

This partnership is expected to provide a significant boost to eBay's marketplace business by exposing its inventory to Facebook's more than 3 billion global users. It offers eBay sellers increased visibility and access to a broader audience, potentially driving higher transaction volumes.

The collaboration also serves as Meta's response to the European Commission's antitrust ruling, which fined the company for tying its Marketplace product to the main Facebook app. For eBay, this integration is a strategic move to engage buyers and deepen customer loyalty by expanding exposure to its sellers' listings.
