Ecopetrol S.A. announced the successful completion of its transaction with Repsol Colombia Oil & Gas Limited to acquire the remaining 45% participation in the CPO-09 Block. The acquisition, valued at USD 452 million, makes Ecopetrol the sole holder of 100% interest in this strategic asset located in the Meta department.
The closing of the transaction followed the fulfillment of key conditions precedent, including a determination by the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce of Colombia that the acquisition does not create an undue restriction of competition. The National Hydrocarbons Agency formalized the transfer of the 45% participation interest on February 5, 2025.
This acquisition significantly strengthens Ecopetrol's position in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons within the Llanos Orientales basin. It consolidates the company's presence as an operator of several major fields in the region, reaffirming its commitment to Colombia's energy future.
