EDAP TMS announced a moderated scientific presentation of clinical data comparing Focal One HIFU versus surgery for the treatment of deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) at the 2024 AAGL Global Congress. The presentation highlighted results from a retrospective multicenter study.
The comparative study, involving 120 patients, indicated that robotic HIFU therapy could offer meaningful advantages over surgical intervention. These advantages include reductions in post-procedure complications, shorter hospital stays, and improved overall patient health.
Furthermore, in an ongoing Phase 3 trial, over 85% of patients initially in the sham treatment arm elected to receive HIFU therapy after their pain symptoms returned to high baseline levels. This suggests the potential for HIFU to significantly reduce pain for women suffering from this debilitating condition.
