The Elevance Health Foundation announced on June 25, 2025, a $1.5 million grant to HealthConnect One, an organization dedicated to expanding community-based doula care. This investment aims to address maternal health disparities by launching new doula training programs in California, Georgia, Indiana, New York, Ohio, and Virginia. Doula care has been shown to improve maternal health outcomes, including reducing caesarean and preterm births, lowering postpartum depression, and enhancing breastfeeding rates. This grant is part of the Foundation's $30 million commitment over the past three years to support the whole health and well-being of women and their babies. The funding will contribute to training maternal health workers and scaling doula services within communities, aligning with Elevance Health's broader purpose of improving the health of humanity and strengthening communities.
