Enlight Renewable Energy announced on February 17, 2025, that two of its energy storage facilities, Neot Smadar and Ohad, have won bids in the Israel Electricity Authority's first availability tariff tender process. These sites, located in southern Israel, possess a combined grid connection capacity of 300 MW AC.
Under the tender's terms, Enlight expects to construct projects with a total storage capacity of 1,300 MWh, with the potential to increase to 1,900 MWh after transitioning to the deregulated market. The projects are slated to achieve commercial operation by 2028, with a combined construction cost estimated between $210-250 million.
These facilities are projected to generate combined average annual revenues of $75-85 million and EBITDA of $37-42 million over their operational lifespan. Enlight's success in securing 20% of the total capacity awarded in this tender reinforces its leadership in Israel's energy storage market, spanning both medium-voltage and high-voltage sectors.
