The Ensign Group, Inc. announced the appointment of Mark Parkinson to its Board of Directors, effective October 21, 2024, expanding the Board to nine members. This appointment follows a shareholder vote in May to approve an amendment to the Company’s Certificate of Incorporation, allowing for the board expansion.
Mr. Parkinson recently retired after 14 years as President and CEO of the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL). Christopher Christensen, Ensign's Executive Chairman, stated that Mr. Parkinson's leadership and service to the industry are highly valued.
Mr. Parkinson previously served as the 45th Governor of Kansas from 2009 to 2011 and built, owned, and operated nursing home and senior living facilities between 1996 and 2006. His background in both public policy and direct healthcare operations brings valuable expertise to Ensign's governance and strategic direction.
