EQT Corporation announced it has achieved net zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its legacy upstream operations, ahead of its 2025 goal. This milestone includes assets from the recently acquired Tug Hill/XcL Midstream and Alta Resources, which increased starting-point emissions by approximately 52%. The company accomplished this primarily through emissions abatement, supplemented by company-generated carbon offsets. This achievement positions EQT as the world's first large-scale traditional energy producer to reach net zero Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions. It enhances EQT's competitive advantage, particularly in attracting partners who prioritize low-carbon energy supply. The company's structural abatement measures, such as replacing pneumatic devices and deploying electric frac fleets, demonstrate a commitment to environmental responsibility. CEO Toby Rice stated that this reflects the hard work of EQT's team to revolutionize operations and achieve peak performance while driving value. He also credited the low-emissions foundation within the Appalachian Basin for this success. EQT plans to continue its leadership through its new NetZero Now+ initiative.
