Homer City Redevelopment announced an agreement in principle for EQT Corporation to be the exclusive partner to source and supply natural gas for the 4.4 gigawatt natural gas facility at the Homer City Energy Campus. This campus, a 3,200-acre AI and high-performance computing data center, is under construction and slated to begin producing power in 2027. The project will transform the former Homer City Generating Station site.
The transaction represents one of the largest single-site natural gas purchases in North American history, with EQT unlocking supply of up to 665,000 MMBTUs per day. EQT will have unparalleled gas supply redundancy, sourcing from both the Texas Eastern Transmission and Eastern Gas Transmission and Storage pipeline systems. This partnership ensures long-term energy security for the data center campus.
This agreement marks a major customer win and strategic partnership for EQT, positioning it as a key energy supplier for the burgeoning AI and data center sector. It leverages EQT's integrated model and Appalachian Basin resources to meet new, high-value demand. The long-term supply commitment provides revenue certainty and underscores the critical role of natural gas in powering future technological advancements.
