On October 14, 2025, Ericsson and Vodafone Group announced a five‑year strategic partnership to modernize Vodafone’s network footprint across key European markets. The deal makes Ericsson the sole RAN vendor in Ireland, the Netherlands, and Portugal, and a major vendor in Germany, Romania, and Egypt.
Under the agreement, Vodafone will deploy Ericsson’s state‑of‑the‑art Open RAN‑compatible Massive MIMO radios, RAN Compute solutions, and 5G Advanced RAN software across the specified markets. The partnership also introduces Ericsson’s Intelligent Automation Platform and AI‑powered rApps, with Germany slated to be the first market to implement the platform and rApps in Q4 2025.
The collaboration positions Ericsson to accelerate its shift toward high‑performance programmable networks and to expand its 5G Standalone and AI capabilities. By integrating Ericsson’s network APIs through the joint venture Aduna, the partnership also lays the groundwork for new monetization opportunities and strengthens Ericsson’s competitive position in the European telecom market.
