On October 15, 2025, Ericsson announced the signing of a USD $3 billion partnership agreement with Export Development Canada (EDC) to expand investment in Canadian research and development. The partnership will accelerate the development of AI, 5G, Cloud RAN, and quantum technologies, deepen domestic supply chains, and support global growth for Ericsson’s next‑generation networks. It builds on a CAD 634.8 million R&D agreement with the Canadian government announced in 2024, and leverages Ericsson Canada’s R&D centers in Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto. Through the partnership, Ericsson will scale its Canadian‑led innovation and global projects with financial and insurance solutions from EDC, strengthening its supply chain and positioning the company as a leader in emerging network technologies.
