Eaton is collaborating with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to repurpose its retired Bull Run Fossil Plant in Clinton, Tennessee, into a critical asset supporting electric grid reliability. This project addresses the challenge of maintaining grid stability as more electricity comes from variable sources and demand increases.

Eaton is providing the electrical and mechanical solutions to convert one machine, comprised of two generators, into two 605 mega-volt amperes reactive (MVAR) synchronous condensers. These condensers will help balance grid inertia by replacing decommissioned power generation equipment, thereby increasing power reliability and redundancy.

The company is supplying essential electrical distribution and control equipment, including medium-voltage variable-frequency drives, motor control centers, and network automation hardware. This initiative showcases Eaton's broad portfolio of utility solutions and services designed to support resilience, performance, and decarbonization.
