Expensify introduced a hybrid contextual AI expense agent on 2025-11-04, transforming its Concierge support into a full‑service expense assistant that operates via chat, email, and text.

The agent blends advanced AI with round‑the‑clock human support, enabling users to create, edit, and delete expenses conversationally, auto‑correct ambiguous details, and flag suspicious receipts, including those potentially generated by AI.

The launch is part of Expensify’s broader strategy to embed deep AI across its platform, following earlier initiatives such as SmartScan and Concierge AI. CEO David Barrett emphasized that the agent’s contextual design allows users to interact within the context of a specific expense or report, differentiating Expensify from competitors pursuing fully autonomous solutions.

The new agent is available everywhere in the Expensify app, including within individual expenses, expense reports, and other workflows. Expensify has invested heavily in AI, and the agent is expected to improve efficiency and customer experience, aligning with the company’s “Concierge everywhere” vision.

While the launch does not include immediate financial impact, it follows a period of declining revenue and rising net loss, with 2024 full‑year revenue at $139.2 million and a net loss of $10.1 million. The company’s focus on AI‑driven automation aims to counter these trends and drive future growth.
