JFrog Ltd. unveiled a new Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, an architecture designed to enable Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI agents to securely interact with tools and data sources within the JFrog Platform. This integration can occur directly from MCP clients, including popular agentic coding development environments and IDEs. The MCP Server aims to boost developer productivity and streamline workflows by allowing natural language commands, such as 'Create a new local repository' or 'Do we have this package in our organization?', to interact with the JFrog Platform. This provides immediate awareness of open-source vulnerabilities and software package usage without context switching. Yoav Landman, Co-Founder and CTO of JFrog, highlighted that the developer tool stack has fundamentally changed in the AI era, and the MCP Server expands open integration capabilities to seamlessly connect with LLMs and agentic tools. The server is designed with security in mind, relying exclusively on trusted connection methods like HTTPS, especially given recent vulnerabilities discovered in remote MCP servers.
