On Monday, October 27, 2025, Gauzy Ltd. announced its co‑development of the RetroWAL SPD‑SmartGlass system with Research Frontiers and Advanced Impact Technologies Group (AIT Group). The retrofit solution, manufactured by Gauzy, uses the company’s patented SPD‑Smart film to transform existing building windows into dynamic smart glass without the need for full glass replacement.

The RetroWAL system delivers instant dimming, up to 20 % solar heat‑gain reduction, UV and infrared blocking, and noise attenuation. It can be installed in a weekend retrofit, offering up to 70 % lower cost than full glass replacement and eliminating the need for blinds or shades. The same SPD technology is already deployed in automotive and aerospace applications, giving the product a proven performance pedigree.

By entering the retrofit market—projected to be the fastest‑growing segment of the $124 billion smart‑glass industry—Gauzy opens a new revenue stream in commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. The product will be showcased at GlassBuild America 2025 in Orlando, Florida, from November 4‑6, 2025, at booth 9034.
