On May 14, 2025, GE Aerospace and Qatar Airways announced a significant expansion of their partnership with the signing of multiple deals for new GE9X and GEnx engines. This agreement, totaling more than 400 engines with additional options and spares, represents the largest widebody engine purchase in GE Aerospace's history.
The order includes 60 GE9X engines and 260 GEnx engines, which will power Qatar Airways' next-generation Boeing 777-9 and Boeing 787 aircraft. These new agreements solidify GE Aerospace's commitment to Qatar's thriving aviation industry and build upon a previous order for 188 GE9X engines.
The deals also encompass service agreements to cover the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of both the GEnx and GE9X engines, ensuring long-term recurring revenue. The GE9X is the world's most powerful and fuel-efficient commercial aircraft engine, while the GEnx is GE Aerospace's fastest-selling high-thrust engine to date.
