GlobalFoundries Inc. and Navitas Semiconductor announced a long‑term partnership to develop and manufacture advanced gallium nitride (GaN) technology at GlobalFoundries’ Burlington, Vermont facility. The collaboration, announced on November 20 2025, targets high‑power applications in AI data centers, performance computing, energy and grid infrastructure, and industrial electrification, with development slated to begin in early 2026 and production later that year.

The alliance positions both companies at the forefront of a technology that offers higher efficiency, smaller size, and lower overall cost than silicon. By combining Navitas’ device expertise with GlobalFoundries’ high‑voltage GaN‑on‑silicon manufacturing capability, the partnership creates a U.S. supply‑chain pathway that is critical for national‑security‑sensitive applications and for meeting the growing demand for power‑dense solutions in AI and energy markets.

Navitas has faced revenue challenges and losses in recent quarters as it pivots toward high‑power markets, while GlobalFoundries reported Q3 2025 results that included revenue slightly below forecasts but an earnings‑per‑share beat and margin expansion. The partnership is therefore a strategic move for both firms to strengthen their GaN portfolios and to capitalize on the rapid growth of AI and power‑dense applications.

Tim Breen, GlobalFoundries CEO, said, “GaN is transforming how the world moves power. This partnership represents a significant step forward for U.S. semiconductor leadership and the deployment of GaN technology to address essential applications.” Chris Allexandre, Navitas President and CEO, added, “Our collaboration with GF ensures that Navitas can deliver the performance, efficiency and scale our customers demand and to manufacture those solutions in critical and national‑security applications in the United States.”

The partnership expands GlobalFoundries’ GaN portfolio and strengthens its position in the high‑power semiconductor market, while Navitas secures a domestic manufacturing pathway that enhances supply‑chain resilience. Together, the companies aim to accelerate the adoption of GaN in AI, energy, and industrial sectors, positioning them to capture a share of the projected multi‑billion‑dollar high‑power market.

The announcement was welcomed by investors, reflecting confidence in the strategic alignment and the potential for accelerated growth in high‑power AI and energy applications.
