Guardant Health, Inc. announced the results of its second annual 'Closing the Gap: CRC Screening Insights' survey, conducted by The Harris Poll. The survey revealed that nine out of ten physicians are concerned about patients not completing colorectal cancer (CRC) screening, often due to fear and anxiety.
The survey, which polled 1,000 American adults and 350 physicians, indicated that over 50 million eligible Americans are not up to date with CRC screening. A significant finding was that the vast majority of physicians and patients believe avoiding screening is less likely if an FDA-approved blood test option is available.
Craig Eagle, M.D., Guardant Health chief medical officer, stated that the Shield blood test offers a more pleasant and convenient option, requiring no preparation or invasive procedure. This has the potential to improve CRC screening rates and save lives, as CRC is highly treatable when caught early.
