CGI announced the expansion of its Universal Virtual Flight Data Recorder (UVFDR) initiative, establishing CGI VirtualFlightRecorder as a new intellectual property solution. This scalable, cloud-based solution, built on AWS, is designed to enhance aviation safety globally, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with emerging global aeronautics distress and safety (GADSS) standards. The initiative is supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the UK Space Agency (UKSA).

CGI VirtualFlightRecorder replicates the function of a traditional crash-protected flight recorder in a virtual environment, allowing for assured, authenticated, and provenance-controlled storage of in-flight data. Key enhancements include leveraging CGI's blockchain technology to ensure data authenticity, integrity, and security, addressing operational and regulatory challenges of future flight data recording systems. This solution is designed for commercial air transport, business and general aviation, and advanced air mobility.

This product launch positions CGI as a leader in advancing aviation safety through transformative technology. It provides aviation stakeholders—aircraft operators, manufacturers, and regulators—with a cost-effective, reliable tool to boost operational efficiency, comply with international safety mandates, and provide crucial insights in case of an incident. This demonstrates CGI's commitment to innovation and its ability to deliver high-impact solutions for critical sectors.
