CGI Inc. announced on December 10 2025 that it has secured a contract with the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) to deliver the HERMES secure mobile communications solution. The contract, signed on July 16 2025, will provide NATO executives and selected target groups with a highly secure, scalable IT platform that enables mobile communication on specially protected equipment.

The HERMES solution combines CGI’s managed‑services expertise with secunet Security Networks’ Secure Inter‑Network Architecture (SINA) technology, which has been approved for NATO SECRET security levels. The package includes a secure VPN, a dedicated Service Operation Centre, 24/7 monitoring, worldwide on‑site assistance, and user training, allowing NATO to maintain confidentiality while operating from any location.

The contract’s signing earlier in the year and its announcement in December underscore the strategic importance of the partnership. Deployment is scheduled for 2026, positioning CGI as a key technology partner for NATO’s ongoing digital transformation and modernized command‑and‑control capabilities.

CGI’s win expands its presence in the defense and security market and signals that the company can deliver complex, highly secure solutions for multinational organizations. The partnership also opens the door to further opportunities in the European defense sector, where NATO’s investment in secure mobile communications is accelerating.

Management comments highlight the significance of the deal. Ludwig Decamps, General Manager at NCIA, said, “HERMES represents a new dimension of efficient, mobile communication within NATO in line with the requirements of a modern and flexible command structure.” Jens Elstermeier, Head of Business Development for Defense & Intelligence at CGI, noted, “In a security‑critical and multinational environment such as NATO, absolute reliability is essential. We have presented a solution that combines state‑of‑the‑art security architecture with the high dynamics of mobile deployment scenarios, while also improving interoperability.” Marcel Taubert, Vice‑President, Defence & Space at secunet, added, “Now more than ever, NATO must be able to act quickly and flexibly. Those who can work with highly classified content even while mobile have a clear strategic advantage. This is exactly what our partnership with CGI in the HERMES project enables.”
