Gentex Expands HomeLink with Genie Partnership, Enhancing Car‑to‑Home Automation

Gentex Corporation announced a partnership with The Genie Company to integrate Genie’s Aladdin Connect platform into its HomeLink car‑to‑home automation system. The collaboration will let HomeLink users control Genie‑powered garage doors and other smart‑home devices directly from the vehicle via radio frequency, Long‑Range Bluetooth®, and cloud‑based technology, extending HomeLink’s reach to Genie’s extensive smart‑garage ecosystem.

Gentex’s Q3 2025 consolidated net sales rose 8% to $655.2 million, driven largely by the inclusion of VOXX International. Core Gentex revenue, excluding VOXX, fell 6% to $570.3 million as lower shipments in Europe and China offset gains in the U.S. market. Diluted earnings per share were $0.46, a $0.07 miss versus the $0.53 reported in Q3 2024 and $0.47 consensus. The miss reflects weaker core sales and higher operating expenses, while the overall margin improvement to 34.4% from 33.5% indicates effective cost control amid the revenue decline.

The partnership with Genie aligns with Gentex’s broader diversification strategy, which includes recent acquisitions such as BioConnect and the VOXX merger. By adding cloud‑based garage‑door control to HomeLink, Gentex positions itself as the most versatile car‑to‑home platform, potentially driving higher customer adoption and cross‑sell opportunities across its automotive‑automation and smart‑home businesses. Management highlighted that the integration will leverage HomeLink’s presence in nearly 300 vehicle models from 50 automakers, serving about 110 million units, to expand into the growing connected‑home market.

CEO Steve Downing noted that the partnership “extends our automotive‑automation expertise into the smart‑home space, creating new revenue streams and reinforcing our competitive moat.” COO and CTO Neil Boehm added that the integration will “make HomeLink the most versatile car‑to‑home automation system.” These comments underscore Gentex’s confidence that the partnership will strengthen its market position despite recent earnings misses.

Gentex has revised its 2025 revenue guidance to $2.5‑$2.6 billion, up from the prior $2.44‑$2.61 billion range, reflecting the expected incremental revenue from the Genie integration and the VOXX merger. The guidance signals management’s belief that the combined platform will drive growth, even as the company navigates headwinds such as counter‑tariffs on China exports and a challenging automotive market.

The partnership also dovetails with Gentex’s next‑generation HomeLink, announced in January 2025, which added compatibility with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and broader smart‑home brands. Together, these initiatives illustrate Gentex’s strategy to transform its automotive‑automation core into a diversified technology platform that spans aerospace, fire protection, medical devices, biometrics, and connected‑home solutions.
