Anthropic announced yesterday (2025‑10‑24) that it will use over 1 million specialized AI Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) from Google, providing more than one gigawatt of computing capacity for its Claude AI service. The partnership is valued in the tens of billions of dollars and marks the largest TPU commitment to date for Anthropic.

The deal expands Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure and strengthens its long‑standing partnership with Anthropic, positioning Google as a key provider of AI compute. By supplying the hardware that powers Anthropic’s Claude models, Google is likely to see increased demand for its cloud services and gains a competitive edge over rivals such as AWS and Azure.

The partnership enables Anthropic to scale its Claude models more rapidly, while underscoring Google’s strategic focus on custom silicon for AI workloads. It signals continued investment in AI infrastructure and reinforces Google’s role as a backbone for next‑generation AI applications.
