Google today introduced Gemini 3 Flash, a new variant of its Gemini 3 generative‑AI system that will become the default model in the Gemini app and the AI mode of Google Search.
Gemini 3 Flash delivers a significant speed and cost advantage. It scored 33.7% on Humanity’s Last Exam without tool use, a figure that places it close to the performance of OpenAI’s GPT‑5.2 on the same benchmark, while outperforming Gemini 3 Pro’s 37.5% score. On the multimodality and reasoning benchmark MMMU‑Pro, the model achieved an 81.2% score, surpassing all competitors.
The new model is priced at $0.50 per 1 million input tokens and $3.00 per 1 million output tokens, roughly 30 % cheaper than Gemini 2.5 Pro and three times faster, according to Google’s performance metrics.
By making Gemini 3 Flash the default in consumer products, Google aims to accelerate AI adoption while keeping costs low. The model is also available through Vertex AI, Gemini Enterprise, and a preview API, and has already been adopted by developers such as JetBrains, Figma, and Cursor, signaling strong ecosystem support.
Google’s AI leadership team highlighted the model’s balance of speed and intelligence, noting that Gemini 3 Flash “retains the foundation of Gemini 3’s Pro‑grade reasoning while delivering Flash‑level latency, efficiency and cost.” The company emphasized that the model’s cost‑effective performance will enable broader use of advanced AI in everyday tools.
The launch positions Google to compete more aggressively with OpenAI’s GPT‑5.2 and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.5.
