Graphic Packaging Holding Company announced its decision to permanently close its Middletown, Ohio, coated recycled paperboard manufacturing facility on or about June 1, 2025. This closure will affect approximately 130 employees.
The facility shutdown is part of a previously disclosed strategic plan to consolidate recycled paperboard production. Operations will be streamlined into the company's Kalamazoo, Michigan, facility and the new Waco, Texas, facility, which is expected to begin commercial production later this year.
CEO Michael Doss stated that the closure advances the company's strategy to build competitive advantage in paperboard manufacturing and drive environmental improvements, including water and energy efficiency. The investments in Kalamazoo and Waco are intended to produce the highest quality, most economically advantaged paperboard in North America.
