GeoPark Limited announced on October 16, 2025, the completion of its previously announced acquisition from Pluspetrol S.A. This transaction grants GeoPark a 100% operated working interest in the Loma Jarillosa Este and Puesto Silva Oeste blocks, located in the black oil window of the Vaca Muerta formation in Neuquén Province, Argentina. This marks GeoPark's official entry as an operator into this world-class unconventional play.
The acquisition, valued at $115 million at closing plus a $22.70 million security deposit, was funded with available cash. This strategic milestone is expected to significantly enhance GeoPark's production, reserves, and long-term value. The company's operated position provides greater control over development and operational efficiencies.
The development plan for these new assets includes the potential for 50-55 additional wells across 15 pads, which are projected to unlock over 60 million barrels of oil equivalent of gross recoverable volumes. GeoPark plans to develop these blocks as a hub, with a new central processing facility at Puesto Silva Oeste, expected to have a capacity of 20,000 bopd, with construction projected to start in 2026.
This strategic investment is anticipated to achieve plateau production of approximately 20,000 boepd by year-end 2028 from these acquired blocks. For investors, the completion of this acquisition is a super bullish development, solidifying GeoPark's growth trajectory and its position in a highly prolific basin.
