Globalstar announced the commencement of construction for additional gateway infrastructure at its existing ground station in Bihoro, Japan. This strategic expansion initiates the rapid growth of Globalstar’s mobile satellite services throughout Asia.
The expansion includes the installation of additional tracking antennas to support both Globalstar's existing constellation and the infrastructure necessary for its third-generation C-3 mobile satellite system. Globalstar previously acquired land in Bihoro for this purpose, with the first installation commissioned in June 2024.
L. Barbee Ponder, General Counsel and VP of Regulatory Affairs, stated that this expansion in Japan is part of a global infrastructure buildout expected to include over 90 additional tracking antennas. This investment supports the C-3 System, which is designed to serve hundreds of millions of people around the world.
