Globalstar, Inc. has added three six‑meter C‑3 tracking antennas to its Yeo Ju ground station in South Korea, expanding the company’s East‑Asia infrastructure and increasing redundancy for its third‑generation satellite system.

The new antennas are part of a broader rollout that will ultimately deploy up to 90 tracking antennas across 15 sites in nine countries. The Yeo Ju expansion is the first of several installations in the region, positioning Globalstar to deliver higher‑throughput, lower‑latency connectivity for Internet‑of‑Things (IoT) devices and device‑to‑device (D2D) communications.

Globalstar’s C‑3 system is designed to support Apple’s satellite‑enabled features on iPhones, including Emergency SOS and Messages via satellite. The additional antennas help ensure reliable coverage for these services and provide the capacity needed for future growth in the Apple partnership and other wholesale customers.

Management highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion: “With Yeo Ju, Globalstar has now announced construction projects related to its third‑generation C‑3 system that are ongoing at 15 different locations in nine countries on four continents,” said L. Barbee Ponder, General Counsel and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. The company is also leveraging its licensed terrestrial spectrum (Band 53/n53) to offer private 4G/5G networks, further diversifying its revenue streams.

While the expansion strengthens Globalstar’s competitive position against satellite‑constellation providers such as Starlink and AST SpaceMobile, the company continues to invest heavily in infrastructure, which has impacted short‑term profitability. Nevertheless, the rollout is expected to drive long‑term revenue growth through increased demand for IoT and D2D services, especially in emerging markets where satellite connectivity remains scarce.

Overall, the Yeo Ju installation marks a significant step in Globalstar’s strategy to modernize its ground network, support key partnerships, and capture growing demand for satellite‑based connectivity worldwide.
