The Hartford has opened a new technology hub in Columbus, Ohio, adding a 75‑person AI, cloud, and technology transformation team to its global network. The facility sits in Easton Town Center and expands the insurer’s footprint beyond its existing centers in Hartford, Chicago, Charlotte, and Hyderabad.

The move is part of the company’s broader strategy to build a globally integrated technology ecosystem. By bringing AI scientists and engineers into Columbus, The Hartford aims to accelerate product development and improve customer and agent experiences, especially in its small‑business and personal‑lines markets.

Management highlighted the strategic importance of the hub. Chief Information Officer Shekar Pannala said the Columbus office “is part of our strategy to have employees collaborate on products and services that are integral to the future of insurance.” Head of Data, AI and Operations Jeff Hawkins added that Columbus offers a rich pool of tech talent and proximity to world‑class universities, making it an ideal location to attract and grow top technology talent.

The new hub complements the Hyderabad center, which launched in September 2025 and also focuses on AI and digital transformation. Together, the centers reinforce The Hartford’s commitment to digital modernization and its reputation as a leading digital small‑business insurer, positioning the company to capture new opportunities in the insurance technology space.

The expansion underscores the insurer’s focus on technology as a competitive moat. By investing in AI, cloud architecture, and technology transformation, The Hartford is strengthening its ability to deliver faster, smarter solutions that meet evolving customer needs, while reinforcing its standing as a best place to work in IT.
