Hecla Mining Company announced the appointment of Rob Krcmarov as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 7, 2024. Mr. Krcmarov will also join Hecla’s Board of Directors, succeeding Catherine J. Boggs, who will remain as Chair of the Board.
Mr. Krcmarov brings over 35 years of industry expertise, including 13 years on the executive leadership team at Barrick Gold Corporation, where he served as Executive Vice President of Exploration and Growth. His proven track record in managing complex operations and commitment to sustainable mining practices are expected to guide Hecla's future growth and innovation.
In conjunction with this leadership change, the company also promoted Carlos Aguiar from Vice President – Operations to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, effective November 7, 2024. Mr. Aguiar has over 25 years of engineering and management experience within Hecla's operations, providing continuity and deep operational knowledge to the executive team.
