Hesai Group has been chosen by NVIDIA as a lidar partner for the DRIVE AGX Hyperion 10 reference compute and sensor architecture, a platform designed to enable level‑4 autonomous driving in production vehicles.

The partnership will integrate Hesai’s ETX lidar into the Hyperion architecture. The ETX offers a 400‑meter range at 10 % reflectivity, a 0.05° horizontal and vertical angular resolution, and is slated for mass production in 2026. The sensor’s ultra‑long‑range capability and high resolution make it well‑suited for the demanding perception requirements of level‑4 systems.

This collaboration builds on a relationship that began in 2019 and gives Hesai direct access to NVIDIA’s extensive automotive ecosystem, including major OEMs that are actively pursuing level‑4 autonomy. By qualifying its sensor suite on the Hyperion platform, Hesai positions itself at the core of a high‑performance autonomous driving stack that combines NVIDIA’s Blackwell‑based AI processors with Hesai’s MEMS‑based lidar technology.

Hesai’s financial performance underscores the strategic value of the partnership. In Q1 2025, the company reported revenue of RMB 525.3 million (US$72.4 million), a 46.3 % year‑over‑year increase, while narrowing its net loss. For FY 2024, revenue reached RMB 2.08 billion, up 10.66 % from the prior year, and losses narrowed by 78.49 %. The company plans to double its annual lidar production capacity to 4 million units by 2026 and to open a new factory in Thailand in early 2027 to support international expansion.

Following the announcement, Hesai’s shares rose 7.92 % and were trading near the 52‑week high, reflecting a valuation impact of approximately $278 million. Analysts have maintained a strong buy consensus, citing the partnership as a key driver of future growth and improved unit economics for Hesai’s high‑end lidar portfolio.

In the competitive landscape, other lidar partners such as Aeva have also announced integration with the Hyperion platform. Hesai differentiates itself with the ETX’s ultra‑long‑range performance and high angular resolution, and it was ranked the world’s No.1 automotive lidar company by revenue share in 2024. The partnership is expected to accelerate product integration for multi‑lidar configurations in future vehicles and to strengthen Hesai’s competitive moat in the premium autonomous driving segment.

The selection by NVIDIA signals a significant endorsement of Hesai’s technology and positions the company to capture a larger share of the rapidly growing level‑4 autonomous vehicle market. The partnership is likely to drive higher unit economics, broaden Hesai’s OEM relationships, and reinforce investor confidence in the company’s long‑term growth trajectory.
