The New York Stock Exchange, part of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc., announced plans on October 25, 2024, to extend weekday trading on its NYSE Arca equities exchange to 22 hours a day. This change is subject to regulatory approval. Under the new plan, trading on the all-electronic NYSE Arca would open at 1:30 a.m. ET and close at 11:30 p.m. ET on weekdays. This extended schedule would apply to all U.S.-listed stocks, ETFs, and closed-end funds. Kevin Tyrrell, Head of Markets at the New York Stock Exchange, stated that this initiative underscores the strength of U.S. capital markets and growing global demand for listed securities. The extension aims to provide broader access to investors across different time zones.
