International Paper reported second quarter 2025 net earnings of $75 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, and adjusted operating earnings of $105 million, or $0.20 per diluted share. Net sales for the quarter reached $6.767 billion, reflecting a full quarter of the combined International Paper and DS Smith packaging businesses.

Packaging Solutions North America operating profit increased to $277 million from $142 million in the first quarter of 2025, driven by higher sales prices for boxes and containerboard and seasonally higher volumes. However, Packaging Solutions EMEA reported an operating loss of $(1) million, down from $46 million in Q1, impacted by soft demand and higher energy costs.

Global Cellulose Fibers operating profit was $(4) million, a decrease from $17 million in the prior quarter, due to lower volumes and higher planned outage costs. Management expects stronger global revenue and earnings in the third quarter, supported by strategic wins, continued cost-out initiatives, and fewer planned maintenance outages.
