On October 2, 2025, Iridium Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: IRDM) announced that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Karrier One, a leader in decentralized telecom infrastructure. The agreement will integrate Iridium’s NTN Direct SM IoT capabilities into the Karrier One ecosystem, allowing deployers to connect sensors, devices, and critical monitoring equipment anywhere on the planet without the need for a local base station. The partnership extends Iridium’s global IoT footprint into the most remote locations, complementing its existing Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) and Direct‑to‑Device (D2D) services. By leveraging Iridium’s LEO constellation, Karrier One can provide reliable pole‑to‑pole coverage for IoT deployments in environments where terrestrial networks are unavailable or unreliable. Technically, the integration will enable Karrier One’s deployers to use Iridium’s narrowband IoT (NB‑IoT) and LTE‑M modules to transmit data directly to Iridium satellites. This capability is expected to reduce the cost and complexity of deploying IoT solutions in remote or maritime settings, thereby opening new market segments for both companies. For investors, the MOU signals a strategic expansion into the decentralized telecom space and a potential new revenue stream for Iridium. The partnership aligns with Iridium’s long‑term growth pillars of IoT and D2D connectivity, reinforcing its competitive moat and supporting its 2025 revenue and EBITDA outlook.
