JBS USA announced on August 13, 2025, an agreement to acquire a production facility in Ankeny, Iowa, with plans to transform it into the largest ready-to-eat bacon and sausage plant in its U.S. portfolio. The 186,000 square-foot facility, previously owned by Hy-Vee, will produce fully cooked bacon and sausage products.

This investment aligns with JBS's long-term strategy to offer more value-added and prepared foods products to meet growing consumer demand. The plant is expected to be operational by mid-2026 and create approximately 400 jobs when all phases of the project are complete.

The Ankeny facility will benefit from synergies and strategic supply from other JBS plants in the region, including a new fresh sausage facility in Perry, Iowa. Management anticipates that these prepared foods categories will yield higher double-digit margins, around 15%, with an expected Return on Investment of approximately 20%.
