Aurora Mobile announced the addition of an AI‑driven behavioral CAPTCHA to its EngageLab omni‑channel platform, a move designed to detect automated activity without disrupting user experience. The feature analyzes mouse movements, typing rhythm, and touch patterns to distinguish humans from bots, targeting high‑risk scenarios such as account creation, SMS verification, flash sales and data‑query transactions.

The launch follows a period of rapid growth for EngageLab, whose annual recurring revenue reached 53.7 million RMB in September 2025, up more than 160 % from a year earlier. Q3 2025 revenue for Aurora Mobile hit 90.9 million RMB, a 15 % year‑over‑year increase, and the company guided for Q4 revenue of 94.0–96.0 million RMB, reflecting confidence in continued demand for its AI‑enabled engagement tools.

Management highlighted that the new CAPTCHA is part of Aurora’s broader AI‑first strategy. “Traditional CAPTCHAs often frustrate users and fail to stop sophisticated bots,” said Chris Lo, Founder and CEO of EngageLab. “Our behavioral CAPTCHA leverages AI‑driven analysis and interactive verification to provide robust protection without sacrificing user experience.” Chairman and CEO Weidong Luo added that the feature strengthens Aurora’s “dual‑engine strategy of Global Market + AI Empowerment,” positioning the company to capture a growing market for frictionless authentication.

While the market size for frictionless authentication is not quantified in the announcement, industry analysts note that the segment is expanding rapidly as enterprises seek seamless yet secure login experiences. Aurora’s move also places it in direct competition with firms such as Auth0, Cognito, and Microsoft’s Azure AD, which offer similar AI‑based security solutions.

Early adoption data is limited, but Aurora reported that several key clients have begun testing the CAPTCHA in pilot programs, with preliminary results indicating a reduction in bot‑driven fraud and a smoother user journey. The company expects the feature to drive higher subscription uptake and retention across its EngageLab customer base, particularly in finance, gaming, e‑commerce, blockchain and public‑sector markets.

The launch underscores Aurora’s commitment to expanding EngageLab’s security portfolio and reinforces its competitive edge in the global messaging and engagement space. By integrating AI into its core platform, Aurora aims to deliver a frictionless authentication experience that balances security and usability, a combination that could become a differentiator as the market for AI‑powered security solutions continues to grow.
