KBR Inc. announced a new technology and engineering contract with Spanish renewable‑energy developer IGNIS for a 200,000‑tpa green ammonia facility in A Coruna, Spain. The award, announced on December 15, 2025, requires KBR to deliver proprietary engineering design and pre‑FEED services, leveraging its long‑standing expertise in ammonia plant design and renewable‑energy integration.

The facility will use renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen and convert it to ammonia, a low‑carbon fertilizer and energy‑storage commodity. The project adds a new revenue stream to KBR’s Sustainable Technology Solutions segment and expands its presence in the European green‑ammonia market.

KBR’s Q3 2025 results showed revenue of $1.931 billion, flat year‑over‑year, and earnings per share of $1.02, beating analyst estimates by $0.07. The beat was driven by disciplined cost control and strong demand in the Sustainable Technology Solutions segment, which reported $550 million in revenue, up 12% YoY, and an adjusted EBITDA margin of 22.5%. The company’s long‑standing expertise in ammonia plant design—having engineered over 260 plants—positions it to deliver the project efficiently.

Management highlighted the strategic fit of the contract. Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, said the win “reinforces our commitment to Spain’s renewable resources and underscores our leadership in green ammonia technology.” He also noted that KBR’s K‑GreeN® solution will be leveraged to optimize the plant’s energy efficiency.

IGNIS has a track record of large‑scale green‑ammonia projects, including an 800,000‑tpa facility in Castellón announced in June 2024. The A Coruna project is part of IGNIS’s broader strategy to secure renewable hydrogen and ammonia production capacity across Spain.

The contract value and detailed project timeline were not disclosed, but the award signals a significant expansion of KBR’s sustainable technology portfolio and a deepening partnership with a leading Spanish renewable developer.
